The 2026 Mungyeong Legend Trail Baekdudaegan takes place at Mungyeong Saejae in Gyeongsangbuk-do on Saturday, November 7, 2026. Its three racesβ€”50K, 34K and 21Kβ€”pass the historic gates of Mungyeong Saejae and, depending on the distance, climb Baekhwasan, Joryeongsan and Juheulsan.

All races start and finish at the outdoor performance venue in Mungyeongsaejae Provincial Park. Distance, elevation gain and checkpoint cutoffs differ considerably by race. The 50K covers 50.82 km with 3,330 m of ascent and starts at 5:30 a.m., so accommodation and early-morning transport need to be arranged in advance.

πŸ“Œ Information checked on August 18, 2026: Registration was announced to open on August 18. Check the relevant race entry page for the current registration status and availability.

⚠️ Shuttle and accommodation warning: The official Transportation and Accommodation pages still display 2025 dates and prices. This guide separates confirmed 2026 information from details awaiting an update. Do not book travel based on the old timetable.

5:00 p.m. 34K close 10-hour limit
6:00 p.m. 50K and event close 12.5-hour limit

Check-in opens at 4:00 a.m., making a race-morning trip from Seoul impractical for 50K runners. Stay in Mungyeong or somewhere with reliable early access to the venue. Runners in the shorter races should also arrive at least 90 minutes before their start to allow for parking and check-in queues.

⛰️ 50K: Baekhwasan, Joryeongsan and Juheulsan

The 50K is 50.82 km with 3,330 m ascent and 3,336 m descent, with a 12-hour-30-minute limit. The official page lists UTMB Index 50K and 2 ITRA points.

⚠️ Published cutoff inconsistency: The race starts at 5:30 a.m. and officially closes at 6:00 p.m., but the current course graphic shows 10:00 a.m. at Donghwawon and 3:00 p.m. at the finish. These times do not match the route sequence. Confirm all cutoffs in the final runner guide.

The long climb to Baekhwasan comes early, and Juheulsan Yeongbong and Jubong bring another major climb late in the race. Hold something back through Ihwaryeong Pass at 26 km, with enough food and energy left for Juheulsan beyond Donghwawon.

⛰️ 34K: Joryeongsan and Juheulsan

The 34K is 33.86 km with 2,071 m ascent and 2,072 m descent, with a 10-hour limit. The official page displays UTMB Index 50K and 2 ITRA points.

Main route

Outdoor performance venue β†’ Ihwaryeong Pass β†’ Joryeongsan β†’ Sinseonambong β†’ Kkuguribawi β†’ Gate 2 β†’ Donghwawon Rest Area β†’ Gate 3 β†’ Gate 2 β†’ Juheulsan Yeongbong β†’ Juheulsan Jubong β†’ Gate 1 β†’ outdoor performance venue

CP3 Donghwawon second pass 22 km 1:00 p.m. Restroom, shop
Finish 33.86 km 5:00 p.m. Finish venue

The 34K still gains more than 2,000 m. Juheulsan Yeongbong and Jubong come after Donghwawon at 22 km, so refill your water and food before leaving CP3.

⛰️ 21K: Gate 3 and Juheulsan

The 21K is 21.50 km with 1,203 m ascent and 1,195 m descent, with a six-hour limit. It is listed for UTMB Index 20K and 1 ITRA point.

Main route

Outdoor performance venue β†’ Gate 1 β†’ Gate 2 β†’ Donghwawon Rest Area β†’ Gate 3 β†’ Gate 2 β†’ Juheulsan Yeongbong β†’ Juheulsan Jubong β†’ Gate 1 β†’ outdoor performance venue

Point Distance Cutoff Facilities
CP3 Donghwawon Rest Area 6 km 10:00 a.m. Restroom, shop
Finish 21.50 km 2:00 p.m. Finish venue

The first 9 km form an out-and-back to Gate 3. Most of the steep climbing and descending comes in the remaining 12 km over Juheulsan. A road half-marathon time says little about this course; training should include hiking and trail sessions with roughly 1,200 m of ascent.

πŸŽ’ Mandatory gear

🚌 Check the 2026 Shuttle and Accommodation Notices

The official menu links to Transportation and Accommodation, but as of August 18, 2026, both pages still show 2025 race dates. Their departure dates, return date, accommodation night and prices are not confirmed 2026 information.

The following details have been confirmed:

  • The 2026 schedule shows Seoul-bound shuttles departing sequentially from 4:00 p.m.
  • The 2026 boarding point, departure times, price and booking deadline need confirmation
  • Accommodation name, check-in time and price also need a 2026 update
  • The 5:30 a.m. 50K start requires an overnight stay or a confirmed overnight transport plan

Before paying, make sure the page shows 2026 dates and a current refund deadline. If booking independently, compare the room price with the pre-dawn journey to the outdoor performance venue.

βœ… Pre-race checklist

  • Confirm actual distance, elevation gain and time limit
  • Check the bib and contents when the race pack arrives

  • Carry 1 L hydration capacity and a separate reusable cup
  • Save the checkpoint and cutoff table offline
  • Recheck the 2026 shuttle and accommodation updates
  • Add waterproof and warm layers for the forecast
  • Verify the corrected 50K cutoffs in the final runner guide

Frequently asked questions

Do all three races start at the same venue?

Yes. All races start and finish at the Mungyeongsaejae Provincial Park outdoor performance venue. Start times are 5:30 a.m. for 50K, 7:00 a.m. for 34K and 8:00 a.m. for 21K.

Is a headlamp mandatory for the 21K?

No. The official equipment chart marks it mandatory only for the 50K and 34K. You may still add safety equipment according to the weather and your pace.

Can my bottle replace the reusable cup?

No. The official list requires both at least 1 L of bottle or bladder capacity and a separate reusable cup.

Can I book the shuttle and official accommodation now?

The linked pages currently display 2025 dates. Wait until they show the 2026 date, boarding point, price and refund terms before booking.

Which 50K cutoff times should I follow?

Some times in the current official course graphic conflict with the start, finish and route sequence. This guide has not guessed corrected times. Follow the final runner guide and official board notices issued before the race.

Elevation gain matters as much as distance at the Mungyeong Legend Trail. Even the 21K climbs 1,203 m, while the 34K and 50K save Juheulsan for late in the race. Run the opening kilometres at a pace you can still hold over the final summit.

Course, schedule, equipment and reward information was checked on the official 2026 Mungyeong Legend Trail Baekdudaegan website on August 18, 2026. Operational details can change, so recheck the race schedule, mandatory equipment and official notice board before departure.
