GuideDynafit Taebaek Trail 2026: Shuttle, Lodging & Bib Guide

A practical guide to Dynafit Taebaek Trail 2026 (Sept 5): courses, Seoul–Taebaek shuttle, O2 Resort lodging, race-pack delivery, gear, and refunds.

Taebaek TrailDynafitTrail RunningRace PrepO2 ResortShuttle Bus

The Dynafit Taebaek Trail takes place in Taebaek, Gangwon, on Saturday, September 5, 2026. The course follows the Baekdudaegan ridge between Taebaeksan and Hambaeksan, then passes through Untan-godo—the old coal-transport roads—and former mine tunnels. There are five races: 50K / 32K-T / 32K-U / 24K / 15K. Most start and finish at Taebaek Sowonji Auto Camping Site.

For this race, sort out your accommodation and transport before anything else. This guide covers where to stay, when to reach the venue, and how the bib is delivered, with the schedule from Friday through Saturday morning laid out in time order.

📌 Most urgent deadline first: If your payment for the shuttle and the official lodging (O2 Resort) is not completed by August 18, your order is cancelled — and no refund is possible afterward. If you plan to use the shuttle or lodging, start with that section.

📢 Race-office update (August 12): There is no day-before check-in. Race packs, including bibs, are scheduled to ship by courier on August 24; bring the delivered bib to the venue on race day. Event booths are planned, and participating vendors will be announced later on the official Instagram account.

⏱️ Assembly Cutoff, Start & Course Cutoffs (Sat 9/5)

Each course has a fixed "bag storage & assembly complete" time before its start. You must reach the venue by that time to be allowed to start.

⏰ From the Day Before to Race Morning

Your schedule depends on whether you use the Seoul shuttle and O2 Resort package or drive yourself.

Seoul Shuttle + O2 Resort

Time Place Action Why
Fri 9/4, 15:00~ O2 Resort Taebaek Check in (if you drive there ahead of the shuttle) Rooms are assigned randomly, 4–8 people
Fri 9/4, 16:00 Jamsil Sports Complex Station, Exit 1 1st shuttle departs ~3h 30m to Taebaek
Fri 9/4, 19:00 Jamsil Sports Complex Station, Exit 1 2nd shuttle departs Later start, more evening buffer
Fri 9/4, evening Arrive O2 Resort Sort gear · attach your mailed bib · sleep Doors stay open; keep valuables on you
Sat 9/5, pre-dawn O2 Resort → venue Board the shuttle 1 hour before your course start Resort→venue is a 12-min (9.6km) drive
Sat 9/5 On arrival at venue Check-in + bag drop Race pack received by mail in advance; check-in from 05:00

💡 Alarm clock: A 50K runner sleeping at O2 Resort needs the 05:00 shuttle — one hour before the 06:00 start — so a 4-something wake-up is safe. Shuttles run to the venue one hour before each course's start.

Driving Yourself

Time Place Action Why
Fri 9/4, afternoon–evening Arrive in Taebaek Check in to lodging near the venue Minimize pre-dawn driving
Fri 9/4, evening Taebaek town / new district Carb-heavy dinner Mountain-town restaurants close early
Sat 9/5, 04:30–05:00 Taebaek Sowonji Auto Camping Site Arrive at venue · park Check-in & bag drop open at 05:00
Sat 9/5, 30–45 min before start Venue check-in Check-in · bag drop · gear check Avoid the last-minute crowd

💡 Drivers should reach the venue at least 30–45 minutes before their course start to check in and drop bags. Your race pack (with the bib) arrives by mail beforehand, so don't forget to bring it from home. Allow extra time for pre-dawn mountain roads and parking.

🎽 Race Pack & Check-In (Bag Drop)

This race does not hand out bibs on site. Instead, your race pack is mailed to you before the event. According to the race office's August 12 response, packs are scheduled to ship on August 24.

  • Race pack contents: Event T-shirt · bib · TPU cup. (The commemorative tee is unisex; the final design will be announced later.)
  • Shipping: Scheduled to ship by courier on August 24. Allow for delivery time and confirm that it arrives.
  • Day-before check-in: There is no day-before check-in. Bring the mailed bib with you to the venue on race day.
  • Race-day check-in: Bring the race pack (with your bib) to the venue and check in / assemble. For the 50K, the flow is bag storage & assembly complete 05:00–05:50 → start 06:00; other courses check in ahead of their own start times.
  • Bag drop: Pack a change of clothes and recovery snacks to store, ready for the finish.
  • Gear check: Mandatory-gear inspection is done only for top-ranked (podium-contending) runners. Still, it is a safety rule — all runners are expected to carry the mandatory gear.
  • Cash: Bring 10,000 KRW in cash — showing your bib gets you a discount at nearby saunas and more.

💡 Handling your mailed race pack: It is scheduled to ship on August 24, so ① confirm your address and phone number are correct at registration, and ② once it arrives, put the bib and TPU cup straight into your race bag (easy to forget on the morning). Attaching the bib the night before is convenient. If delivery is delayed or the pack does not arrive, contact the race office (KakaoTalk 010-5605-9059).

🏅 Finisher Rewards

Rewards are handed out on site at the finish. The lineup varies slightly by course.

  • All courses: Finisher medal · sauna ticket · meal voucher · Dynafit product discount coupon
  • 50K only: Finisher jacket (given on site to finishers only; unisex)
  • 32K-T · 32K-U · 24K · 15K: Finisher towel

🏔️ UTMB Qualifier: The 2026 Dynafit Taebaek Trail is a UTMB (Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc) Qualifying Race — finishing earns you a UTMB Index score and ITRA points.

Because you run along high mountain ridges, gear rules are strict. The following are mandatory for all courses:

  • Trail running shoes
  • Smartphone / GPS (for location and emergency contact)
  • Whistle
  • Survival blanket
  • Running vest or backpack
  • First-aid kit
  • Windproof jacket
  • Nutrition / food
  • Water bottle or bladder (1 liter or more)
  • Personal cup (no paper cups at aid stations — bring your own)

Distance-Specific / Recommended Gear

  • Headlamp: Mandatory for 50K (06:00 pre-dawn start, dark sections — a spare/second is recommended)
  • Power bank: Mandatory for 50K / recommended for 32K·24K (for long GPS and comms use)

  • Also recommended: Hat·buff·gloves, sunglasses·calf guards, rear light·reflective tape, 10,000 KRW cash

⚠️ Gear checks target podium contenders, but missing items can create real safety risks — all runners should carry the full mandatory kit.

💳 Cancellation / Refund Policy

  • Full refund: For cancellation requests before 17:00 on Monday, July 6, 2026
  • No cancellation/refund: After 17:00 on Monday, July 6, 2026

  • If the race is rendered impossible or is suspended/cancelled due to force majeure or natural disaster, entry fees are not refunded.
  • Changes/cancellation inquiries: Race office KakaoTalk 010-5605-9059

The entry-fee refund deadline (July 6) has already passed. As of August, what you can still adjust is mainly the shuttle and lodging (Aug 18 deadline).

❓ FAQ

📢 Answers Confirmed Directly with the Race Office (Updated August 12)

The following summarizes the race office's response to a 50K runner's questions about check-in, bib delivery, and event booths.

Q. Does check-in only start at 05:00 on race day? Is there day-before check-in?

A. There is no day-before check-in. Venue operations begin at 05:00 on race day. Bring the bib delivered to you by courier and complete check-in before your course's bag-storage and assembly cutoff shown above.

Q. Is the bib delivered by courier?

A. Yes. The race pack, including the bib, is scheduled to ship on August 24. Do not plan to collect your bib at the venue; bring the delivered bib with you on race day.

Q. Will there be event booths?

A. Event booths are planned. The participating vendors have not yet been announced and will be posted later on the official Instagram account.

Q. Coming by public transport from Seoul — by what time?

A. For the official shuttle, that's Fri 9/4 at 16:00 or 19:00, Jamsil Sports Complex Station Exit 1. If you miss it, you'll have to reach Taebaek on your own by intercity bus or train (Cheongnyangni → Taebaek), so arrive at Jamsil on time.

Q. If I drive, by what time should I arrive on race day?

A. Check-in and bag drop open at 05:00. For the 50K (06:00 start), the check-in-to-start window is short, so aim for 04:30–05:00. For other courses, arriving 30–45 minutes before your start is safe.

Q. Why does the 32K-U start somewhere else?

A. The 32K-U is a point-to-point course starting at Kkoldubawi Park, Yeongwol and finishing at the Taebaek venue. You gather at the Taebaek venue, transfer to the Yeongwol start by the 09:10 shuttle, and start at 10:00.

Q. How long from O2 Resort to the venue?

A. About a 12-minute (9.6km) drive. On race morning the shuttle leaves the resort for the venue one hour before each course start. (The shuttle runs only for shuttle/lodging purchasers.)

Q. When do we head back to Seoul after the race?

A. Seoul-bound buses depart in sequence from the afternoon; per the official schedule, the 1st leaves at 18:30 and the 2nd at 20:00 from Taebaek to Jamsil. Choose based on your expected finish time and the awards ceremony (16:30).

What to Check Before You Leave

If you have not decided how to reach the venue before dawn, choose your accommodation first. A shorter transfer leaves more time to sleep and makes it easier to reach the start on schedule.

  • Coming from afar: The Seoul shuttle + O2 Resort package is available. Check the August 18 payment deadline.
  • Driving: Stay near the venue (Taebaek Hotel, Ramada, the snow-flower campground, etc.) and arrive for the 05:00 check-in.
